Hello, everyone! My name is Angelica Gacayan BSN RN CCRN, and welcome to the Nursing Bloc.

The Nursing Bloc’s Goal

The Nursing Bloc goal is to be a resource for success for nursing students, new nurses, and those who want to learn more about nursing as a career. Other healthcare providers and the general public are also welcome here. This site will focus topics such as how to succeed in nursing school, how to survive your first year as a nurse, how to be a successful well-rounded nurse, and everything in between. I will also share bits of knowledge I’ve learned along the way that can help you be a better nurse as you progress in your nursing career.

Background About Angelica Gacayan, BSN, RN, CCRN

I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University in April 2020. I began as Telemetry/Medical-Surgical Nurse in 2010, and for the next 3 years, I became a part time bedside nurse and full-time informatics nurse through the same employer where I learned the in’s and out’s of building, training, and implementing an electronic health record system. Also, in 2012, I joined the US Army Reserve as a nurse. I went to a different hospital far away from home to pursue informatics further as a healthcare implementation analyst, and eventually did some travel consulting training and assisting in implementation of the same EHR that I worked with since 2010. I decided to return to bedside nursing in February 2015 and became a critical care nurse. In January 2019, I decided to start The Nursing Bloc. This site has become a passion project for me.
