How To Start A Side Hustle During The Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic

If you are like the rest of the world, you’re either working in a very important sector (in our case, healthcare) or you are grounded at home with plenty of free time. If you have been itching to start a business or a side hustle at this time, this is the perfect time to do so. In this article, we will discuss different types of side hustles / businesses you can start while being at home for almost nothing. Because of the plenty of free time that we have right now, you can utilize online tools to start your side hustle. To get started, you need a good internet connection, a computer, a smartphone, and electricity.

Start A YouTube Channel

It’s as easy as having a google account and a smartphone. To sign up for a free YouTube account, go to www.youtube.com. If you have a smartphone, you can start making videos today. Eventually, you will start learning how to edit videos, etc.

Start A Blog

To start a blog, I suggest that you use WordPress. If you are unsure and don’t want to invest money just yet, you can create a free account at www.wordpress.com. If you eventually want to monetize, you can transfer your wordpress free account into a self-hosted wordpress.org site. I recommend using wordpress because this is the industry standard.

Become a Freelance Writer

If writing is your thing, you can look into writing as a side gig, such as being a freelance writer. Some places you can sign up to be a freelance writer are sites such as Upwork, Freelancer, Fiverr, and Guru. I suggest that in order for you to have a portfolio of sample work, create a blog that can act as a portfolio.

Get a part-time online job

Some online jobs that you can look into are jobs such as billing/coding, telehealth, case management, insurance claim specialist, etc. One site that I recommend is Flexjobs.com (use code FRIEND30 to get 30% off when you sign up for an account). The only thing is that this site is a paid site to join. If you want the free option route, you can go to sites like Indeed.com or do a google search.

Start selling online

If you have a knack for creating crafts or have stuff in your house that you want to sell, check out Etsy, eBay or Amazon. If you like to create handcrafted items, you can create a free Etsy account and start selling. If you want to start with selling stuff around your house, you can get started on eBay. If you have any items in new or used condition that you can sell on Amazon, check them out too. Creating seller accounts for these platforms are free. What you have to consider are seller fees after you sell an item.

Create educational courses using Udemy

If you have something to teach and you want to use other platforms aside from YouTube, you can look into Udemy. You can create educational videos which you can earn profit from. To sign up for a free account, go to https://www.udemy.com/teaching/ to get started.

No matter what side hustle you choose, you have plenty of options to choose from. Although some may require more time and learning in than others, it’s worth it in the end. Which one would you choose?
